Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Awards
The Office of the Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education and the Graduate School sponsor these awards to recognize excellence in teaching by graduate students. Recipients must have served as a graduate assistant for at least two semesters within the last two years.

The Ardeth and Norman Frisbey International Student Award – Graduate
This annual award recognizes one graduate student who has contributed significantly to the advancement of the international mission of the University. It is named for the retired deputy vice president for international programs. The designation “achievement” includes, but is not limited to, the display of excellence in: research with a significant international component; participation in international programs and/or field projects; teaching with a significant international content; and service to the international community.

Intercollege Graduate Student Outreach Achievement Award
The office of the Dean of the Graduate School and the office of the Vice President for Outreach co-sponsor this award to recognize outstanding achievements of degree candidates in any of the Intercollege Graduate Degree Programs that relate to bringing student scholarship to the community in order to benefit society in some manner. This award endeavors to encourage our
future academicians to embrace outreach and promote a commitment to advancing the welfare of and quality of life for the public through their scholarly pursuits. The outreach project of the recipient must be related to his/her area of scholarship and the disciplinary training received in the graduate degree program and includes activities such as education, service, and consultation.

Academic Computing Fellowship
In 1987, Penn State established an innovative fellowship program in computing applications through a partnership between the Office of the Vice Provost for Information Technology and the Graduate School. The Academic Computing Fellowship Program is to support research doctorate students who have a background and strong interest in computing applications within their disciplines. Through participation in the program and the use of computing resources, students develop and disseminate new methods for problem solving within their disciplines.

Alumni Association Dissertation Award Distinguished Doctoral Scholar Medals
The Alumni Association Dissertation Award provides funding and recognition to outstanding full-time research doctorate (doctor of philosophy; Ph.D.) students who have passed their comprehensive examinations and have received approval of their dissertation topic. The award, comprised of a certificate and a medal, is considered to be among the most prestigious available to Penn State graduate students, and recognizes outstanding professional accomplishment and achievement in scholarly research in any of the disciplinary areas of Fine Arts and Humanities; Social Sciences – Applied and Basic; Physical and Computational Sciences – Applied and Basic; Life and Health Sciences; and Engineering.

Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award
The Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award recognizes excellence in master’s-level thesis research in any of the disciplinary areas of Fine Arts and Humanities; Social Sciences – Applied and Basic; Physical and Computational Sciences – Applied and Basic; Life and Health Sciences; and Engineering.

The Graduate Student Excellence in Mentoring Award recognizes senior doctoral students for exemplary and effective mentoring of undergraduate and/or new or junior graduate students that contributes to the student’s personal growth, professional development and/or academic success.

Penn State Alumni Association Scholarship for Penn State Alumni in the Graduate School
The purpose of the Penn State Alumni Association Scholarship for Penn State Alumni in the Graduate School is to provide recognition and financial assistance to students who have been admitted to the Graduate School at The Pennsylvania State University as candidates for a graduate degree and who received their undergraduate degree from the University.

Professional Master’s Excellence Award
The Professional Master’s Excellence Award recognizes outstanding achievement in a professional master’s degree program, in any discipline, based upon the student’s academic record in the graduate program and the quality and impact of the student’s culminating experience, including creative works, performance, and projects conducted in a professional setting.
